1972 Zemaitis Acoustic Bass

a Tony Zemaitis original built for tony visconti

An exceptionally rare, custom made 1972 Tony Zemaitis Acoustic Bass, commissioned for renowned producer and musician Tony Visconti.

During the early 1970s Tony Zemaitis produced only around ten bespoke instruments each year, with no two guitars ever being identical. Every instrument was individually handcrafted for its owner.

Zemaitis is known to have built acoustic basses for Ronnie Wood (1973), Mike Oldfield (1975) and David Gilmour (1978). As this instrument dates from 1972, it is believed to be among the earliest Tony Zemaitis acoustic basses ever produced and is quite possibly the first.
